Car Insurance Saab (Car Insurance). Someone accidentally backed into my car?Someone accidentally backed into my car? Basically I have a 1997 Mitsubishi eclipse gs, perfect condition. They stopped there, so there are now white slice marks along the side of the drivers rear side panel and it goes on the side of the bumper by the wheel. So there is now a fade of scratches on the rear bumper and its pushed in a little, a crack on the side of the tail light and some scratches on the side metal where the body is. All on the drivers side. Its not too bad, but the car definitely is no longer "perfect" or looking perfect anymore. I got all the insurance info, he even called them from there. They are going to come look at it or get it estimated or whatever they do. This is the first time this has happened to me... My question is, how is it most likely going to be fixed by the body shop? Are they going to do a whole repaint on that chunk of the body and redo the whole bumper? Will I get the tail light replaced? Or are they just going to "touch up paint" it, because this would look kinda crappy... Just wanting my car to go back to exact same look as it was, not look covered up.... Thanks! this is what you need to do, call and make appointments, or drive to three auto body shops, and get three estimates for damages. Then keep the one you like the best handy as the insurance company gives you there estimate. If its lower than the one you have, show them the estimate you like, you do not have to tell them you have other estimates. If their estimate is lower, they will pay the one you have. ask them to send the check directly to you, by law its your money, you are entitled to do with it what you want. Most adjustor's will try to imply the check should go to a body shop. Since you are getting your car fixed by an insurance company everything will be fixed professionally and you don't have to worry about a crappy job. The back bumper has a huge dent in it therefore the entire back bumper will be replaced and painted. The tail light has a crack therefore the whole taillight will be replaced. All of the little scratches will painted. You said there are slice marks by the back wheel and if they are through the metal they will replace any parts that have them and repaint it (if there on the rear door, you will get a new door). The cost of this will be $2,000 at least and it might be as high as $3-4k. When your car is getting fixed you should get a nice rental car to drive around depending on your insurance (or at least the body shop where your car is getting fixed should give you something to drive). Torque is often overlooked in the power category when comparing vehicles. The fact is that torque has as much to do with power as horsepower does. The 2003 Chevy Silverado generates about as much torque as any truck in its low-end engine class. Stock Torque The stock engine in the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 generates 260 foot-pounds of torque. Compared to other 2003 trucks, the Silverado delivers the highest torque in its class. If this pressure exceeds the level of pressure that your radiator cap is built to withstand and you don't have a recovery system, the liquid in the system bypasses the radiator cap and escapes through an overflow pipe located near the fill hole. This pipe provides a safe way for your vehicle to "let off steam." Of course, if this kind of overflow occurs often, your car loses enough water and coolant to substantially lower the level in the cooling system. You have to keep adding water, and eventually, the level of coolant protection is inadequate. To prevent this problem, you can buy and install a coolant recovery kit yourself by following the instructions in "Using a coolant recovery system" in Chapter 14. Pressure caps are relatively inexpensive, but if you have a cap that isn't working properly, or if you have the wrong type of cap, you'll be amazed at the amount of trouble it can cause. For example, if the gasket (rubber ring) inside the cap isn't working, the pressure in the system will escape, allowing the liquid to boil at a lower temperature. A modern cooling system that's been designed to operate normally at temperatures over 212 degrees Fahrenheit, and that is filled with liquid and in perfect condition, will still continually boil over if the radiator cap isn't operating efficiently. That boiling liquid will be forced into the overflow system, and your vehicle's engine will overheat. This can cause an inconvenient highway breakdown and possible danger to your engine. If your vehicle overheats on the highway, Chapter 21 can get you cooled down safely. The section "If Your Car Is a Chronic Hothead" in Chapter 14 offers remedies for other overheating problems. Although most vehicles come equipped with a safety pressure cap, which features a little lever that releases the pressure before you remove the cap, some older vehicles have a cap that lacks this feature. If this pressure exceeds the level of pressure that your radiator cap is built to withstand and you don't have a recovery system, the liquid in the system bypasses the radiator cap and escapes through an overflow pipe located near the fill hole. This pipe provides a safe way for your vehicle to "let off steam." Of course, if this kind of overflow occurs often, your car loses enough water and coolant to substantially lower the level in the cooling system. You have to keep adding water, and eventually, the level of coolant protection is inadequate. To prevent this problem, you can buy and install a coolant recovery kit yourself by following the instructions in "Using a coolant recovery system" in Chapter 14. Pressure caps are relatively inexpensive, but if you have a cap that isn't working properly, or if you have the wrong type of cap, you'll be amazed at the amount of trouble it can cause. For example, if the gasket (rubber ring) inside the cap isn't working, the pressure in the system will escape, allowing the liquid to boil at a lower temperature. A modern cooling system that's been designed to operate normally at temperatures over 212 degrees Fahrenheit, and that is filled with liquid and in perfect condition, will still continually boil over if the radiator cap isn't operating efficiently. That boiling liquid will be forced into the overflow system, and your vehicle's engine will overheat. This can cause an inconvenient highway breakdown and possible danger to your engine. If your vehicle overheats on the highway, Chapter 21 can get you cooled down safely. The section "If Your Car Is a Chronic Hothead" in Chapter 14 offers remedies for other overheating problems. Although most vehicles come equipped with a safety pressure cap, which features a little lever that releases the pressure before you remove the cap, some older vehicles have a cap that lacks this feature. If you have one of these caps, replace it with a safety pressure cap immediately. Doing so can keep you from burning yourself if you have to remove the cap while there's still some pressure in the system.
